MLS NEXT Pro officially announced The Island F.C. as the league’s newest independent club, with plans to begin play in 2027 as Long Island’s first professional soccer team in the league.
The announcement outlines plans for a new privately funded soccer-specific stadium at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, which will serve as the home of the club while also supporting academy development and community programming. League officials highlighted Long Island’s deep soccer culture and the club’s long-term vision of building a pathway from youth soccer to the professional level.
